The real cost of OTA dependence

MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, and Agoda charge 15-25% on every booking. That is a permanent tax on your revenue.

Run the maths on a modest independent hotel. A room priced at Rs. 4,500 per night, 20% OTA commission, 1,500 room-nights a year - that is Rs. 13.5 lakh going to OTAs annually. Not for marketing, not for service, not for anything that improves your property. Just a transaction fee for sitting on their listing page next to 80 other hotels in your city, ranked by review count and lowest price.

The deeper problem is that OTAs own the guest relationship. They collect the email, they run the loyalty programme, they decide what promotions to push. When that guest comes back to your city, they open the OTA app out of habit - not because they have any reason to go directly to you. You pay the commission again on a guest who already stayed with you and loved it.

A direct booking channel breaks that cycle. A guest who finds your website through Google, reads about your property on your terms, sees your rooms without competing listings beside them, and books directly - that guest has a relationship with you. You have their contact details. You can send a pre-arrival message, offer an upgrade, follow up after their stay, and invite them back with a direct rate that's better than what the OTA shows. None of that is possible when a platform owns the transaction.

The OTAs will always be part of the distribution mix - they bring discovery, especially for first-time visitors to a destination. But an independent hotel with no website of its own is entirely dependent on platforms whose interests do not align with yours. A well-built website is the foundation of every other direct booking effort: Google ranking, Google Business Profile, repeat guest email campaigns, and referrals from guests who want to send friends directly to you.

Every site includes

What we build for your hotel

Built around your property - whether you run a boutique hotel in a hill station, a business hotel in a tier-2 city, or a heritage property in a tourist destination.

Custom design

No page builder templates. Your property photos, your brand colours, and your hotel's positioning built into every section - not a generic hospitality theme that looks like fifty other properties.

Mobile-first

Over 70% of hotel searches happen on mobile. Your site is designed for a phone screen first and tested across screen sizes before anything else - not retrofitted from a desktop layout.

95+ PageSpeed

Google uses page speed as a ranking signal. Our sites score 95+ on PageSpeed Insights. Most hotel sites built on WordPress with a page builder score 40-60 and lose guests before the page finishes loading.

SEO built in

Target keywords in page titles and headings, canonical URLs, Open Graph tags, LocalBusiness schema with your exact address and coordinates, and a sitemap generated automatically. Ready for Google from day one.

Direct booking setup

WhatsApp enquiry button and contact form as standard. Optional booking engine connection or payment gateway so guests can reserve a room and pay a deposit directly - no OTA commission, no middleman.

Global CDN

Hosted across 300+ server locations worldwide. Fast for domestic travellers on 4G and for international guests booking from the Gulf, UK, or South-East Asia. Free SSL included.

Speed is a booking conversion factor, not just a technical score

A slow hotel website loses guests before they see your best room photos

A guest comparing hotels in your city opens three or four tabs from a Google search. They spend a few seconds on each. If your site takes more than three seconds to load on their phone, they close the tab and stay on the OTA that loaded instantly. You never get a chance to show them your rooms, your story, or your direct rate.

Google also uses page speed as a ranking signal. A slow site ranks lower in search results, which means fewer guests find you through organic search in the first place. The OTA listing that outranks you for "hotel in your city" is fast, heavily optimised, and backed by an enormous SEO budget. Your own site needs to be technically excellent to compete for the same searches.

Most hotel websites built on WordPress with a visual page builder score between 40 and 65 on PageSpeed Insights. Large uncompressed images, multiple plugin scripts loading on every page, and slow server response times all add up. Our sites consistently score 95 or above - built on a modern static-site framework with no database queries on page load, photos served in next-generation formats, and a global CDN delivering files from the server physically closest to each visitor.

For a traveller searching "hotels near Rajkot airport" on their phone during a layover, your site has a narrow window. Fast loading is what keeps them on the page long enough to book.

How it works

From first message to live website in days

No long briefing documents, no project management portals. We keep the process simple so you can stay focused on running your hotel.

01

Discovery call

30 minutes to understand your property, your room mix, your target guest, and what you want from a website - whether that's reducing OTA dependence, ranking for city searches, or converting corporate enquiries into direct bookings.

02

Design brief

We share a structure and visual direction built around your hotel's character. A heritage boutique in Mysore looks nothing like a business hotel in Pune, and your website should reflect that difference clearly.

03

Development

Built on a modern static-site framework that outputs pure HTML with no WordPress overhead. 95+ PageSpeed from day one, with your room photos compressed and served fast from a global CDN network with 300+ server locations.

04

Review and revisions

You get a live preview link before anything goes public. Two rounds of revisions are included - we keep going until every room description, tariff detail, and section heading is exactly right.

05

Launch and handover

Your site goes live on a global CDN. Fast load times whether your guest is booking from Bengaluru, Dubai, or London - no hosting to manage, no server to maintain.

FAQ

Hotel website FAQs

How much does a hotel website cost in India?

Our Starter Site is Rs. 24,999 one-time - up to 5 pages covering your home, rooms, gallery, about, and a contact page with an enquiry form. If you want a blog for local SEO content, Google Analytics, and an online booking deposit flow so guests can pay directly without going through an OTA, that falls under our Business Site at Rs. 44,999. Both are a single one-time cost. No monthly platform fee, no per-booking commission, no annual renewal that climbs every year.

Can direct bookings realistically compete with MakeMyTrip and Booking.com?

Yes - and the economics strongly favour it. OTAs charge 15-25% commission on every booking they send you. For a hotel doing 1,500 room-nights a year at Rs. 4,500 per night, that's Rs. 13.5 lakh or more going to an OTA annually. Your own website costs a one-time Rs. 24,999-44,999 and keeps every rupee of every direct booking. OTAs have their place for visibility, but a guest who found you on OTA and liked your property will search for your hotel name before their next visit. If you have a website, that repeat booking is free. If you don't, they go back to the OTA and you pay the commission again.

Do you integrate a booking engine or payment gateway into the hotel website?

Yes. Every site includes a WhatsApp enquiry button and a contact form as standard - many Indian travellers are comfortable confirming a booking and paying an advance via UPI or bank transfer directly. For properties that want a more formal booking flow, we integrate a payment gateway (Cashfree or Razorpay) so guests can reserve a room and pay a deposit online without leaving your website. We can also connect to a third-party booking engine if you have one already set up. Either way, the reservation comes directly to you with no OTA taking a cut.

How long does it take to build a hotel website?

Most hotel sites go live in 5-7 working days from the time you share your content - your property photos, room descriptions, tariff structure, your logo if you have one, and any specific pages you need such as a banquet or conference section. We send you a live preview link before anything goes public, and two rounds of revisions are included so the details are right before launch.

Will my hotel website rank on Google for searches in my city?

Every site we build is technically sound from day one - target keywords in page titles, headings, and meta descriptions, LocalBusiness schema with your exact location and coordinates, an auto-generated sitemap, and fast load times that Google weighs as a ranking signal. For searches like 'hotel in Nashik' or 'boutique hotel Pondicherry' where there's a local map pack, we also guide you through setting up and optimising your Google Business Profile - that's typically the highest-impact step for local visibility. Competitive city-level hotel terms take 4-9 months of consistent work to move up, but your site will be indexed correctly and appearing in the right searches from launch day.
